What a great morning! Today is day 1 of our professional development for all new professional hires. Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams opened the event with a warm welcome, which was then followed by a number of sessions familiarizing everyone with GCISD’s mission, vision and profile of a GCISD educator. More learning will continue this afternoon and tomorrow with a focus on curriculum and instruction. Be sure to check out the last picture of our new professional hires who are alums and chose to return to teach in GCISD.

GCISD is hosting a Student Registration Event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, July 30, and Thursday, August 6, at the JPS Building (behind Timberline Elementary) 3050 Timberline Dr. Grapevine, TX 76051. Staff will be available to assist families in completing their online registration in Skyward and answer questions. We’re here to help.

Congratulations to Hunter Somerman, 2026 Colleyville Heritage High School graduate, for finishing in the top 10 at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America national competition in Washington DC last week! Led by Culinary Arts Instructor Kaylie Kotecki and through the district’s Career and Technical Education, Hunter competed in Food Innovations against more than 80 teams and received a gold medal. Exact places of each of the top 10 winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Additional projects funded by the 2024 Bond are underway across the district this summer, including campuswide piping replacement at Colleyville Heritage High School and installation of a commercial culinary space for the GCISD Career and Technical Education program. Work at Grapevine High School involves extensive roofing, HVAC work, mechanical upgrades, kitchen improvements and safety and security upgrades. Projects are also happening at Colleyville Middle School, Bear Creek Elementary, Glenhope Elementary, Grapevine Elementary, O.C. Taylor Elementary, Timberline Elementary, and the Facilities Services building.
