Career Prep
Life After High School
The time is now to prepare for a job after High School!
Here are some activities engaged students will complete before they finish high school to help them find the right career path. Where possible, each activity is paired with useful online resources.
Complete a career interest profiler
Take a few minutes to answer 60 questions to identify occupations relevant to your likes and interests. Your results will lead you to a list of occupations for you to explore.
Select a career path based on interests
Students use this resource to explore different occupations. Use the "Career Cluster", "Job Zone" and "Bright Outlook" search bars to explore different jobs within a career field.
Are you considering two different career paths? Find out which occupation is best for you by comparing them side by side.
When considering a career path, take a look at the top jobs! This link shows the Top 25 occupations in Texas for the period 2014 - 2024.

Do you want to know if your career path will allow you to afford the lifestyle you want? This Lifestyle Calculator will show you how much your living expenses will cost, and the amount of money you will need to earn to pay for them.
Participate actively in 1 or more extra-curricular activities
Attend a career/job fair
Are you ready for your first job? Don't miss the Job Fair hosted every April by the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. At this job fair students apply, interview and leave with a job.

Work a part-time job or as an intern

Build a resume
Be prepared to get the job you want! Never again forget critical phone numbers and other information when filling out a job application. The Pocket Resume is a miniature résumé that stores information commonly asked on a job application.
