Class of 2020 Graduation Update
Graduation Information

The following was sent to CHHS Class of 2020 families on May 18, 2020:

Seniors and their families,

Thank you for your patience as we continued to refine our graduation plans to provide our seniors with a celebration worthy of the Class of 2020. What follows is the graduation plan that has been developed by campus and District leaders, while following health and social distancing guidelines. We understand this is a lengthy update; however, there is important information in here for graduates, as well as families. Please read through all of the information and contact Kevin Starnes (kevin.starnes@gcisd.net) with questions.

As was shared earlier, graduations will be held June 4 (Grapevine High School), June 5 (Colleyville Heritage High School) and June 6 (Collegiate Academy and iUniversity Prep) at Mustang Panther Stadium. In order to provide graduates and their families with a more comfortable atmosphere, and hopefully cooler temperature, the graduation ceremonies for Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School will take place from 8-10 p.m. iUniversity Prep graduation will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Collegiate Academy graduation at 8:30 p.m.

Ticket Allotment: Each family will receive four (4) tickets for parents and siblings living in the same household. These seats will be assigned in the home or visitor stands. (NOTE: students of divorce/separation may request up to two (2) additional tickets for the second family)

Parking Permits: Each graduate will receive two (2) parking passes: one for family members in the home side parking lot and one for graduates in the visitor side parking lot. (NOTE: students of divorce/separation may request up to one (1) additional parking pass for the second family in the home side lot)

Information for Graduates

Prior to Graduation:

Health Screening Questionnaires will be sent to senior families at 8 a.m. the day before your graduation ceremony.
Once your family questionnaire is completed and submitted to GCISD (showing no symptoms as set forth by the State), seats will be assigned to your family. (Seats will be assigned automatically in the same order questionnaires are received by GCISD).
Graduates will pick up tickets/parking passes in an envelope on the day of graduation at a designated location set by each individual campus.
At the Event:

Arrive beginning one hour before your graduation is set to start from the Mustang Drive entrance to the stadium.
You are responsible for safely social distancing in the parking lot.
Put on your cap and gown in your vehicle. Please remember that this is a graduation ceremony and we ask that you dress appropriately. You may wear shorts as this is an outdoor ceremony but we ask that you do not wear flip-flops or t-shirts.
Proceed to the south entrance to the stadium (by the jumbotron).
You will receive a face covering as you check in for your seat location. A seating chart will be emailed out prior to the ceremony. You should wear your mask at all times; however, you may remove your mask to walk across the stage, accept your diploma and have your photograph taken.
Show the announcer your name card and drop it in the basket provided.
Go to the photography location in the corner of the end zone to have a second picture taken.
Place the mask back on your face and return to your seat.
After the Event:

We will do a processional by row while maintaining social distance while exiting the stadium. No one will be allowed to congregate on the field or parking lot after the ceremony.
Once you walk off the field you must return to your car for departure.
Congratulations, Graduate!
Information for Families

Prior to Graduation:

Health Screening Questionnaires will go out to senior families at 8 a.m. the day before the ceremony. These must be filled out to obtain tickets.
Once your family questionnaire is completed and submitted to GCISD (showing no symptoms as set forth by the state), seats will be assigned to your family and printed on your family ticket.
Put your Family Parking Pass in the front driver’s dash window so that it is visible.
At the Event:

Arrive beginning 45 minutes to the beginning of the graduation ceremony from the north entrance (Hwy 26).
You are responsible for social distancing in the parking lot.
Walk safely as a family with your tickets to one of three home side entry gates following signage and arrows that will be provided on site. Maintain proper distancing between other families.
GCISD recommends families bring their own masks and wear them while at Mustang Panther Stadium.
Once seated, we ask you to remain there unless you need to use the restroom. Custodial attendants will be available to disinfect high touch areas in the restroom and concourse areas.
After the Event:

Remain seated so that graduates can be dismissed.
No one will be allowed to congregate on the field or in the parking lot before or after the ceremony.
Families will be dismissed by section after the graduates have exited. Home side families will be dismissed first, and then visitor side families will be escorted across the end zone and back over to the home parking lot.
We ask that you safely walk to your vehicles and maintain safe distances from other families to the extent possible.
In addition, GCISD will live stream all four graduations. More information to come on how families, friends and community members may view these celebrations.

We know this is a lot of information and we thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to have a safe celebration for our seniors. As we get closer to our graduation dates, we will remind you of this information. If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Starnes (kevin.starnes@gcisd.net).

Thank you for your patience as we have worked to develop a plan of how we can safely honor our seniors with a social distancing graduation. Recently, we were notified by UTA that all events at College Park Center for the month of June have been canceled. Additionally, the Texas Education Agency released guidance this week regarding how school districts may conduct outdoor and virtual graduations. Rather than continue to push graduation back in hopes of having a more traditional ceremony, we are following the guidelines provided by TEA and making alternative arrangements. While we are still ironing out some of the specifics, there is some information that we would like to share with you today.

The graduations for Grapevine High School, Colleyville Heritage, iUniversity Prep and Collegiate Academy will take place at Mustang Panther Stadium. For our Bridges students, you will participate in the graduation of your home campus. The graduations are scheduled as follows:

Thursday, June 4 from 6-10 p.m. - Grapevine High School
Friday, June 5 from 6-10 p.m. - Colleyville Heritage High School
Saturday, June 6 (Time TBA) - Collegiate Academy
Saturday, June 6 (Time TBA) - iUniversity Prep

It is our hope that over the course of the next several weeks, we will continue to provide you with more detail regarding the logistics of the ceremonies and how we are coordinating our social distancing graduations while following health and safety guidelines from local, state and national officials.

Additionally, we are coordinating a senior send off parade tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. We are working with officials from the cities of Grapevine and Colleyville on the logistics and will provide you more specifics once they are available. We are excited for the opportunity to congratulate and honor the Class of 2020 on this momentous occasion.
